Nate Update

I'm back in school and sure that no one is surprised by that. I've been doing this for years and I can see no reason to stop. (I have to stop, but thats not a reason– it's a regulation.) I should graduate in three semesters (counting this one), once I get enough credits for a degree they'll ship me out there into what they have ominously termed the real world. You mean all this stuff I've been doing isn't real? I'd complain but no one real is around to listen. It's quite paradoxical. Really.

I work at Creative Services, the in-house graphics department for my school. It's great. When I first got back to this semi-forsaken land I didn't feel I was home until I stepped into the studio. The second week of classes I showed up to my afternoon class an hour late cause I was so involved in work that I forgot everything else. (It's a good thing that breathing is controlled by the autonomic nervous system or I'd run into some serious problems at work.) Despite any life or grade threatening issues that arise, I like the work and I'm glad to get paid for it. And really, I pay to do the same things in my classes. I suppose we could work out some sort of trade, but unless my local grocer accepts design as legal tender I think I would have to eat my work. Which would be alright, but some of the things I use are toxic and I can't use the same paste as I did in kindergarten.

I'm trying to be a little lighter these days too. I think I can get caught up in being critical, analytical and serious too easily. And while those aren't bad things, they are safe. I don't have to bring much to do that. So I want to focus on being more creative. Get some of me out there. Risk it.

We'll see how it goes.
